Aging does not have to lead to cognitive decline and memory loss. Current research shows that we can maintain and grow our brain throughout our lifetime. Our unique cognitive strengthening program is geared and customized for all levels of needs, from wellness and preventative cognitive health, to cognitive rehab after memory decline. Don’t accept the notion that there is nothing you can do.
Our cognitive program is more than just brain games, it addresses education, neuro plasticity, and integration of skills into daily life. When people get to know their brain better they enjoy and accomplish more with their exercise, and ultimately are able to integrate skills learned from their brain exercise into function within real life daily application. Treatment consists of a weekly 1 on 1 session with a therapist which includes physical movement for brain timing/brain body connection, education regarding cognitive skills, direct practice of those skills, and discussion of integration of the skill into daily life. To achieve repetition with these skills to enhance neuro plasticity, the patients receive daily brain games in their email which they can complete on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Once completed, the data from these games is batched back to the therapist to assist in measuring progress. The login and games are first practiced together in the weekly coaching sessions with patient and therapist to assure patients with cognitive issues are able to successfully login and complete the home exercise.
It is also important to note that the earlier we can catch the cognitive decline, the better. We cannot stress enough how important early intervention is. In our experience, we have found that a lot can be done in the beginning, but once the brain cells are lost, they are very difficult to recover. However if caught early enough there is quite a bit that can be done and our program and treatment plans also include education about brain health in general including exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications to promote better memory.
